    NHS DENTISTRY
As you are most likely aware, NHS dentistry has been heavily affected by COVID-19 with the restrictions and regulations making routine dental treatment very difficult. Unfortunately these restrictions haven't eased much since November 2020 creating a huge back log for all dental practices. The biggest issue is the aerosol that is created during dental treatment such as drilling or cleaning teeth. Any procedure creating this aerosol means we have to wear more involved PPE (personal protective equipment) and leave the surgery empty for a significant amount of time to allow the aerosol to dissipate. This means we have far less flexibility in our diary and have far fewer appointments available. To further protect the staff and patients, there is a locked door policy where we have controlled entry to the premises and the waiting room is not in use.
Routine dental care is still available but currently we are having to prioritise patients with more urgent needs and those that have had treatment interrupted by the pandemic. We appreciate how inconvenient this is for patients and wish to reassure that we are working hard to try to see a many patients as it is safe to do to clear the backlog. Unfortunately until the Scottish Government removes or significantly reduces the restrictions we are struggling to work under, this situation is unlikely to improve in the short term.
Should any registered NHS patient have any issues or concerns with their teeth, please contact reception on 01418893423 and our receptionist will be happy to triage your call and provide the information required. As appointments are limited, priority is always given to those patients who have pain or issues meaning routine check ups are still delayed.
